David A. Beck

Professional Biography: David Beck has many years of experience representing clients in a wide range of complex commercial and business disputes, including cases involving commercial transactions and contracts. He has worked on disputes arising from sophisticated securitization documents, asset sale agreements for multinational businesses, joint venture agreements, commercial supply and outsourcing agreements. David also has extensive experience in disputes arising from insolvent companies including breach of fiduciary duty, deepening insolvency, preference, fraudulent conveyance and illegal dividend claims.
David also heads the Firm's bankruptcy litigation practice. He has represented a wide variety of parties in bankruptcy and restructuring matters including chapter 11 debtors, official committees of unsecured creditors, secured creditors, unsecured creditors, customers and asset purchasers in bankruptcy proceedings throughout the country at every stage of a case from initial case filing through post-confirmation litigation with liquidating trusts. David also has extensive experience in out of court restructurings and Article 9 sales. Prior to joining Carpenter Lipps & Leland, David was a member of Jones Day's bankruptcy and reorganization practice and was active in many of the largest chapter 11 cases in history including those of Motors Liquidation (f/k/a General Motors Corp.), Old Carco (f/k/a Chrysler Corporation), Dana Corporation, USG Corporation, National Century Financial Enterprises, Inc., Laidlaw and the Loewen Group.
David is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and has been published in, among other publications, the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal, the Norton Annual Survey of Bankruptcy Law, the ABF Journal and the Proceedings of the Annual New York University Institute on State and Local Taxation.
When he is not working, David enjoys spending time with his wife, their two small children and their dogs.
