Professional Biography: Kathy has acquired experience in all aspects of commercial litigation in state and federal courts. Kathy's recent trial experiences include successful defense of a class action in Los Angeles County Superior Court, several commercial real estate disputes in Ohio, injunction hearings involving the state smoking ban and other state statutes and regulations, a shareholder dispute tried over several weeks in Nashville, Tennessee, land use litigation involving a major retailer in Columbus, Ohio, and contested evidentiary hearings involving joint venture claims in the insurance industry. Kathy has worked on other commercial litigation matters pending in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Montana, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin. Kathy also has briefed and/or argued a variety of appellate matters, including before the Ohio and Pennsylvania Supreme Courts, several state courts of appeal, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. She has been involved in the defense of a variety of class actions, first party insurance defense, litigation on behalf of insurance agencies, as well as in arbitration, adversarial proceedings, defending administrative proceedings, administrative appeals, and litigation involving state agencies.
Kathy is originally from Granville, Ohio, where her family operates one of the oldest riding schools in Ohio. She continues to be active in the horse industry. Kathy is also active in the Columbus Bar Association as the Chair of the Federal Court Committee, member of the Judicial Screening Committee, and past volunteer for the Summer Leader Internship Program, a program designed to give Columbus Public School students exposure to opportunities in the legal profession. She also serves as an adjunct Professor in pretrial litigation at the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. Kathy is proficient/fluent in French.
