Professional Biography:
After one summer at Carpenter Lipps & Leland LLP and one summer in the Brussels, Belgium and Washington, D.C. offices of a major international law firm, Kathy Lloyd returned to Carpenter Lipps & Leland full time upon graduation in 2002. Since that time, she has acquired experience in all aspects of commercial litigation in state and federal courts, working with the Firm’s senior partners, and co-counsel at firms around the country. Kathy’s recent trial experiences include a shareholder dispute tried over several weeks in Nashville, Tennessee, land use litigation involving a major retailer in Columbus, Ohio, and contested evidentiary hearings involving joint venture claims in the insurance industry. Kathy has worked on other commercial litigation matters pending in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin, including follow-on litigation related to one of the largest asset purchase transactions in the U.S. Kathy also has worked on a variety of appellate matters, including before the Ohio and Pennsylvania Supreme Courts, and has been involved in class action defense, arbitration, adversarial proceedings, defending administrative proceedings, and litigation involving state agencies.
In 2007, Kathy was named a "Rising Star" for commercial litigation by Ohio Super Lawyers Magazine in its listing of the top 2.5% of young lawyers in Ohio.
Kathy is originally from Granville, Ohio, where her family operates one of the oldest riding schools in Ohio. She continues to be active in the horse industry. Kathy has led the Firm’s involvement in the Columbus Bar Association’s New Lawyers’ Committee, including its community service subcommittee. She also serves as a volunteer mentor for the Summer Leader Internship Program, a program designed to give Columbus Public School students exposure to opportunities in the legal profession. Kathy is proficient/fluent in French.
