Joel E. Sechler

Professional Biography:
Joel Sechler's practice includes representation of major corporate clients in a variety of commercial litigation matters in state and federal court. Joel has defended large financial institutions with respect to consumer finance related claims, U.S. and Japanese manufacturers with respect to products liability claims, and major title insurance companies as well as agents with respect to title insurance claims. He also has prosecuted federal statutory claims for a major media distributor. He has represented a variety of clients in adversarial proceedings in the bankruptcy courts, and also has represented creditors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 proceedings. Joel’s commercial litigation work extends to appellate matters, including before the Ohio Supreme Court and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and he has been actively involved in several mediations as well.
Joel does pro bono and community service work through the Westerville Area Resource Ministries, which provides food pantry, legal, and social and economic support services to community members in need. He is also a member of the New Lawyers’ Committee of the Columbus Bar Association, and is involved in the community service efforts of its Service Subcommittee. Joel and his wife, who reside in Westerville, are also active volunteers on behalf of several public libraries. In his spare time, Joel enjoys hiking and musical instruments.
