Shana Ortiz See

Professional Biography:
Shana Ortiz See came to Carpenter Lipps & Leland LLP in 2003. Shana is National Counsel for a major manufacturer, through which she defends products liability cases pending throughout the United States. The cases involve not only torts, but warranty, indemnification, and state consumer sales practice act claims. Most of the cases pertain to product and/or structural fires. Shana's responsibilities involve coordinating local counsel throughout the country participating in product inspections and scene investigations, interfacing with the client (including in-house lawyers and engineers), preparing all pleadings, conducting and defending expert and lay witness depositions, and, ultimately, trial. Shana has conducted both bench and jury trials throughout Ohio, as well as in other states, all of which have resulted in defense verdicts.
With an LL.M. in Taxation, Shana also represents both individuals and businesses in a wide range of tax disputes with both the Ohio Department of Taxation and the Internal Revenue Service. Shana also has experience in settling undisputed tax liabilities with the Internal Revenue Service through offers-in-compromise.
In addition to products liability and tax cases, Shana also has experience in defending consumer lending, Truth In Lending Act, and Home Ownership & Equity Act claims, as well as state and local taxation matters.
Currently, Shana is an active member of the Columbus Bar Association, including its Minorities in the Law and New Lawyers’ Committees. Shana and her husband have three young daughters. Shana is proficient/fluent in Spanish, and proficient in French.
